Mid-season recap:

Consider the first half of the season a success for the Eagles, as they are a heartbreaking loss to the NY RENS from being 6-1. They play very good team basketball, equipped by a rotation nine deep. Jordan Goodwin has stepped up as their leader, and the supporting cast plays very well with one-another. Through seven games, they have played some of the best defense in the EYBL, giving up just over 60 points per contest.

The Star(s):

Goodwin (17.6 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.6 SPG) has scored in double digits in every game, and he makes a good case as the best rebounding guard in the EYBL. He earned First Team All-Indianapolis after a torrid four game stretch in session two, picking up an offer from Michigan State in the process. The Eagles need him to be a star, as they don't have ideal scoring depth on their roster. Goodwin has played as well as any guard on the circuit thus far, and there's no reason to think he won't keep it up.

The Supporting Cast:

The Eagles have seven that guys average between 2.8-9.5 points per game, which is a testament to their depth. Sophomore Tim Finke (9.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG) is a stellar shooter from distance, providing a nice complement to scorer Darius Garland (17.0 PPG - 3 games). Silas Adheke (7.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG) is a strong rebounder in the middle and is certainly capable of performing above his scoring average. The same goes for veteran Reggie Crawford (8.4 PPG, 3.3 RPG). This unit is relatively undersized, but with their strong defense and scrappy mentality, they form one of the more cohesive squads on the circuit.

Session 3/4 Outlook:

The schedule is not easy the rest of the way for the Eagles. They are in a stacked division, and there is wonder if they can keep up the strong outcome from the first two sessions. Goodwin should keep his ascent going, and with the team he has around him, the Eagles are no team that should be overlooked. Ultimately, defense wins championships, and if the Eagles' offense catches up to their lockdown defense, they could make a run at Division D
