Coming off a nationally-televised loss to Oak Hill Academy, Chaminade (MO) senior Jayson Tatum (ESPN 2016 No. 2) had redemption in mind.

Facing their second nationally-ranked opponent within the week, Tatum knew that it would take a tremendous individual effort to leave the Chicago Elite Classic with a win over Georgia-powerhouse Miller Grove.

Like usual, Tatum delivered.

The 6-foot-8 future lottery pick scored 40 points and Chaminade fended off a relentless Miller Grove squad, hanging onto an overtime win that didn't lack theatrics.

Clinging to a three-point lead with 1.2 seconds left with the ball in hand, a win looked imminent for the Red Devils. The inbounds pass was stolen by Aaron Augustin, who immediately lofted up a fade-away game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer.

For most players, the emotional rollercoaster of an overtime-forcing buzzer-beater can be too much to overcome. Tatum proved to unfazed, scoring 16 of his game-high 40 points in overtime. He finished with 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks, including a 15-for-16 performance from the free throw line. He scored in a variety of different fashions, showing off a highly-refined offensive repertoire

Simply put, it was a vintage Jayson Tatum performance. Miller Grove didn't have a defender that could competitively contain him, and he took full advantage on the offensive end of the floor. He may be the best player in the country at drawing contact, and delivers at nearly an 85% at the free throw line. His combination of size, athleticism and footwork were on full display in Chicago, and he'll have several more opportunities to land on this award throughout the season.

Below are highlights of Tatum's performance at the Chicago Elite Classic:
